The central part of any test system is the drive component. In the DaTABANK™ this is the drive Cube. By simply changing between Cubes designed for DVD, BD or HD DVD,  all formats, pre-recorded and recordable, can be covered. These all utilizes the same basic measurement system and user interface – again, providing a common basic starting point for whatever happens in the future, and making investments secure.

The measurement issues for the next generation formats go substantially beyond simply working with smaller features. The coding concepts, the relationships between measurements and playability, and the links between measured effects and their manufacturing-process causes, are all unique.
